I've spent a lot of time looking into the newest addition to Blizzards selection of games. I can't deny that I am a big supporter of Blizzard, in spite of missteps in the past. I own Diablo 1-3, Starcraft 1 and 2, Warcraft 1-3, and I played World of Warcraft since early Beta.
I'm a BIG supporter. So Hearthstone is an intruiging idea.
First Look: Hearthstone
It just plain looks fun. No huge deck requirements like Magic: The Gathering, where I played a Sliver deck in the Rath Block. No strange interactions between types like in Pokemon. No quest cards and strange draw mechanics like in the Warcraft TCG.
I've watched streamers play, research the cards, and even come up with a few deck ideas. The theorycrafting alone of card interactions and the order of importance with mechanics is just so interesting, it's like playing a Rogue in WoW all over again (before the days of Shadowcraft and downloading other peoples spreadsheets). What can I do well? What can I do better next time? Will I get those same cards in a row? What can I replace in my deck to benefit both early aggression and late-game viability?
It's interesting to watch, it's interesting to look at, it's interesting as a free-to-play idea. We'll just have to see what comes of it.
And if I can get my beta key!
I've also started doing some work on the Gamepedia Wiki for Hearthstone. Little things, like trying to apply some style guidelines and fixing some dead-end links. Doesn't seem like many people PLAYING the Beta currently are editing articles beyond a few curious examples.
Formatting issues aside, I'm pretty excited to get to blogging about this on The Hearthglen Herald. I actually decided on the name for this on a whim, while trying to think of a good naming convention for how to do a Hearthstone blog. As soon as the concept hit me, I hopped into WoW and immediately took a screenshot at ground-level of Hearthglen, including one of the statues present and the keep proper.

Minor Heading: Just Taking Up Space

I think it turned out well, personally.
